Preamble & recitals

Regarding Mandatory Standards for the United Arab Emirates

The Cabinet, having reviewed: − The Constitution; − Federal Law No. (28) of 2001 Establishing Emirates Authority For Standardization and Metrology, as Amended; and − Based on the approval of the Cabinet, Hereby resolves as follows:

  1. The two Standards of the Vehicles Sector, whose numbers, titles and types are indicated in the table attached hereof, shall be mandatory standards to be applied in the United Arab Emirates.

  2. The bodies concerned with the implementation of the provisions hereof shall adjust their status in line with the requirements of the standards, as follows:

    1. Standard No. (UAE.S 5016:2018) entitled "Technical Requirements for Low Small Series Production Vehicles" within (180) days from the date of entry into force hereof.

    2. Standard No. (UAE.S 5016:2018) entitled "Motor Vehicle-"eCall" Emergency Call Technical Requirements" starting from vehicles models of 2021 (which are manufactured and supplied to the State in 2020).

  3. This Resolution shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall enter into force from the day following the date of its publication.
